An access log is a text file which contains a thorough list of all the files accessed by your website visitors. All the files which were requested in one way or another shall be included, so if you have a PHP script program and a visitor opens only the home page, for instance, you may find plenty of files inside the log. This is because there are elements on the home page that are embedded - parts of other pages, graphics, etc. These files shall be listed inside the access log, allowing you to get a detailed picture of the way your website performs. The info is in plain text format, so the logs are occasionally termed "raw data" as well. An access log shows the name of each requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, plus the user’s IP address, browser and OS. More information, like the referrer website, is typically supplied too. A log file may be processed by various desktop apps for statistical purposes as an addition to the web statistics supplied by your web server.
Access Log Manager in Cloud Hosting
Our custom-built Hepsia Control Panel has a section focused on various logs and the access logs are one of them. When you sign in to your cloud hosting account and take a look at this section, you will find a list of all the domain names and subdomains you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to press a button that'll be available next to every domain/subdomain. When the option is active, you shall see a download link together with the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your laptop or computer and examine it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective instantly, so if you no longer require one, you may stop it with simply a mouse click from the exact same section of the Control Panel. You shall still have the ability to access the already developed content by clicking on the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
When you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, it will not take more than a few clicks to enable the generation of access logs by our system if you need them. The feature could be enabled via the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel and this could be done independently for each domain name or subdomain which you have in your account. Whenever you log in and look at the Access/Error Logs section of the Control Panel, you will find a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to all of them. One click shall enable the log generation and a second one shall deactivate it, so you can control this feature with great convenience. A Download link within the same section will enable you to save the created content as a text file, that you can then use on your personal computer. Whether or not the logs are deactivated, you shall still be able to download the data that has been previously generated.
